Dear parents and students,
ICYC is around the corner and there are some things you need to know:
The bus will pick up students in Glenns Ferry at 3:00pm in front of the school and will head to Mountain Home right after. Mountain Home students should be ready to go by 3:30pm at the Parish parking lot. The bus will leave Our Lady of Good Counsel at 4:00pm sharp! Please have your students in their designated stops on time!! ALL students NEED to ride the bus. There will be absolutely no student drivers!
We are expecting the students to arrive at Idaho Ford Center by 5:30pm (allowing time for traffic). The students and their luggage will be dropped off at the Idaho Ford Center and there will be different buses in the afternoon to take the students to their designated hotels.
Students need to pack lightly. It's only three days, so there is no need to over pack. The registration fee covers the registration, hotel, busing, and food. You are more than welcome to send your student with extra money if they would like to purchase anything at the event center, but extra money is not required.
I do recommend the students take a water bottle and snacks. Although meals are provided, the weekend is a long one, and they do tend to get hungry. I also recommend that they dress comfortably. We will be having Mass with Bishop Christensen (Diocese of Boise) and Bishop Liam Cary (Diocese of Baker) on Sunday. Students are more than welcome to dress in their Sunday's best for Mass. Parents, family, friends, and parishioners are also more than welcome for Mass on Sunday at 11:00am. If you would like to attend Mass in Nampa, you are more than welcome to pick up your student after that and not have them ride the bus.
The bus is expected to pick up the students on Sunday around 12:30pm and should be back to Mountain Home at 1:30pm. Once the students from OLGC are dropped off there, the rest of the students will be dropped off at Glenns Ferry around 2:00pm.
NO DRUGS, ALCOHOL, OR WEAPONS ARE ALLOWED. If any situation arises where a student is found with any of these items, my first call will be to the police, and my second call will be to the parents. All students must remain at the event center during the day, and at the hotel at night. If a student leaves the event center, my first call will be to the police to file a report for a missing minor, and my second call will be to the parents. Our priority is to keep our students safe, and for them to get the best out of this experience.
If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me at the office or via email.
Confirmation is set for Friday, May 11th at 7:00pm. By now, both students and parents need to know who the sponsor will be, and should have the sponsor form turned in. The Confirmation Sponsor MUST be present during Confirmation and ready to receive the Holy Eucharist. The students must also attend Confession sometime before May 11th in order to receive the Eucharist and the Sacrament of Confirmation. The students need to wear something red the day of. It can be a red tie, shirt, dress, shoes, accessories, etc. More information will be given to the students in regards to the attire in class. The sponsors do not have a color code, but they do need to dress according to the special event. If you have any questions, feel free to call Martha at the office at 208- 587-3046.
Our amazing teens made over 1,000 tamales last week and sold all of them right after 10:00am Mass was over. We apologize for all of those who wanted tamales, but were not able to get any. We didn’t expect such generous sales. We are planning on making over 2,000 tamales for next sale! We also wanted to thank all of those who bought some of the tamales. Each and every single one was made by the teens and/or their parents. After all costs were covered, we made around $500.00. Part of the money went to Hallissey, and the other half will be going towards ICYC.
There are still some students who have not turned in their baptismal certificate. Every student preparing for First Communion or Confirmation needs to turn in their certificate. If you have not turned it in yet, PLEASE DO SO. If your student received the Sacrament of Baptism at the parish or one of our missions, you still need to fill out a form, so please pass by the office to get that done if you have not done so already.
