It’s the beginning of the year, and that means ICYC is only a couple months away! ALL Confirmation students must attend, but that doesn’t mean that you have to be a Confirmation student in order to go. ICYC is open to all High School students. Every year the event gets bigger and bigger, but along with it, the price grows along with it. That should not be reason for any student to miss out on the event. The Diocese offers scholarships to qualifying students! We will search until we find a way to get all of our kids to ICYC! Please contact Martha if you have any questions in regards to the conference, the fee, the scholarship, or any other concern. The Idaho Catholic Youth Conference (ICYC) will take place March 9th, 10th, and 11th at the Idaho Center in Nampa. We will be getting busses to take our kids and we will be staying in hotel rooms during the weekend. We are expecting around 3,000 Catholic teens from the entire state. Give yourself the opportunity to go and encounter God and your faith in a way you haven’t done so before! Registrations can be picked up at the office and need to be turned in by January 28th.
Confirmation is set for Friday, May 11th at 7:00pm. By now, both students and parents need to know who the sponsor will be, and should have the sponsor form turned in. The Confirmation Sponsor MUST be present during Confirmation and ready to receive the Holy Eucharist. The students must also attend Confession sometime before May 11th in order to receive the Eucharist and the Sacrament of Confirmation. The students need to wear something red the day of. It can be a red tie, shirt, dress, shoes, accessories, etc. More information will be given to the students in regards to the attire in class. The sponsors do not have a color code, but they do need to dress according to the special event. If you have any questions, feel free to call Martha at the office at 208- 587-3046.
Our amazing teens made over 1,000 tamales last week and sold all of them right after 10:00am Mass was over. We apologize for all of those who wanted tamales, but were not able to get any. We didn’t expect such generous sales. We are planning on making over 2,000 tamales for next sale! We also wanted to thank all of those who bought some of the tamales. Each and every single one was made by the teens and/or their parents. After all costs were covered, we made around $500.00. Part of the money went to Hallissey, and the other half will be going towards ICYC.
Middle school students! You are invited to play Hallissey! The basketball tournament will be February 16th, 17th, and 18th in Boise. You need to be a 6th, 7th, or 8th grader in order to play, and you have to be Catholic. Registrations went out with students this weekend, and they need to be returned to the office no later than January 7th. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Martha at the office at 208-587-3046 or via email at email@example.com.
There are still some students who have not turned in their baptismal certificate. Every student preparing for First Communion or Confirmation needs to turn in their certificate. If you have not turned it in yet, PLEASE DO SO. If your student received the Sacrament of Baptism at the parish or one of our missions, you still need to fill out a form, so please pass by the office to get that done if you have not done so already.
Letter to the Bishop
January 7th is the due date for the letter to the Bishop. The letter should include the following information: Name, parish, brief biography about student, what student believes about the sacrament of confirmation, why they want to receive the sacrament of Confirmation, what they would like Bishop Christensen to pray for, their saint name, and their favorite thing about their confirmation process so far. Both father and Martha will review the letters before they get sent out to the Bishop. Bishop Christensen is known to read parts of the letters he likes during Confirmation Mass, so make those letters memorable! ;)
